| These reeds are made with exactly the same set-up that I use for myself. I do all of the processing of the cane by hand in order to ensure consistency from reed to reed. They are tuned to A440. They are very stable throughout all registers, have a nice full and dark sound and have good response. These handmade reeds are guarenteed to work better than the factory-made reeds one can find in most local music stores. Although they are slightly more in price, the value of having a high quality reed that will be reliable and last longer is priceless! Each reed you order will be customized for your age and level of playing, and, if enough notice is given, I will use the color of thread you prefer! (See below for color options.) |

| A "blank" is a reed in its beginning stages. The bark is still left on the cane. Minimal scraping has been done to the tip, only enough to allow the blades to be clipped open. The rest of the scraping is up to you! Are you a beginning reedmaker? One of the hardest things to learn is to tie on a reed without any leaks. If you are in the beginning stages of reedmaking, you might want to try scraping on one of these! You can practice your scraping techniques while still learning to tie on a reed sucessfully. When ordering blanks, please specify the following if you have a preference: -soft, medium or hard cane -color of thread -shaper tip used: Gilbert -1 (narrow, Mack ++ (medium), or Gilbert 1 (wide) |
