In general, I tend to read classics, or pre- 50's works. (not poetry.. just books.) Hey... I admit it... I'm a fuddy-duddy. Of course, this is NOT to say I don't enjoy a John Grisham, Tom Clancy or Steven King novel here and there.
My favorite authors include: Virgil, Alexandre Dumas, Victor Hugo, Mark Twain,(although I have some issues w/ him) Russeou, Thoreau, George Orwell, John Steinbeck, and many others. (I seem to have given myself writer's block trying to think of them :] )
I am especially fond of plays. My favorite playwrights include: Shakespeare, (of course) Moliere, Oscar Wilde, Bernard Shaw, Edward Albee, Tenessee Williams, Neil Simon, Hemingway and many others.
My favorite poet, by far is Emily Dickenson. Other favorites include: t.s. eliot, E.E. Cummings, Tennyson, Frost, Longfellow, Wheatley and many others. However, I like so MANY others, it would be difficult to name them all.
