Report:

In most regards this was another whitewash for Wath and a "stroll in the park for Frickley" (Dearden) as the league leaders crushed the Saints 11-1. However, the manager Stan Bradder Snr. was philosophical after the game commenting "at least it's not as bad as last time" referring to the previous encounter with Frickley on October 6th which ended in an even more convincing 14-1 defeat. Of course Wath knew before the kick-off that it would take a miracle to gain anything besides a worse goal difference from this game, but spirits remained high throughout the game, and Wath grew more and more determined to grab the consolation goal that they so dearly deserved. Callum Dearden could have scored it when he had an open goal to aim at from 20 yards, but his side footed effort was a yard over the crossbar. Jamie Skirrow had his chance from a cross to the back post, but he couldn't keep his balance to finish the ball.
The goal did come however midway through the second half, when the Frickley keeper was penalised for picking up a pass from his own defender. Rob Waddington touched on the Indirect free-kick for Adam Milner to smash home from 4 yards and share a joke or two with his colleagues about finally getting "off the mark". Man of the Match Adam Cawood was praised for his blinding saves that had kept Frickley's tally in
only double figures.
