| RICHARD SOUTH: a martyr for L.S.P.s everywhere | ||||||||||
| Richard South made 5 starts for Wath St. James U16's in the 2001/2002 season. He scored only one goal. It was against Kilnhurst Saints, at home on Wath Comprehensive School's Top Field: The Spinal Goal There was barely 5 minutes left in the match. Kilnhurst had already wrapped the game up when... ...a corner came swinging towards goal from the left. The ball caught the eye of Richard South who stood six yards from the goal line. A defender attempted to clear the cross. Richard instinctively turned his back on it. The ball struck his upper spine and crossed the line. Richard realised and removed his Wath St. James shirt to reveal his beloved Sheffield Wednesday shirt, bearing the name "SIBON". He ran to his own half in jubilation, swinging the Wath shirt as he went, much to the amusement of both sets of players. The goal went down in Wath St. James history, a legend. |
