I got an interesting introduction to Boy Scouts in March. On a weekend where there was still snow on the ground and night temperatures were below freezing, my troop took all the new scouts on a camping trip! We slept out in three-walled adirondaks. I had never worn so many clothes to bed! Despite the cold I had fun hiking, learning to use a pocket knife, and making scrambled eggs in a plastic bag. |

The very next weekend I found myself wearing shorts and swimming outside in a pool! We were in Florida! Our friends invited us to spend a week in Florida with them. They have a boy, named Ryan, who is 8 years old. Ryan, Gabrielle and I quickly became great friends. |

At the house we could swim almost any time in the backyard pool. When we went to the beach, we found shark teeth and swam in the Gulf of Mexico. A big part of our trip was a visit to Busch Gardens in Tampa. The park had rides and wild animals. I went on my first big roller coaster. Unlucky for me and dad, I chose the second most scary and fastest roller coaster in the park! (Maybe in the world!) We also went on the River Rapids ride where I got soaked! I can definitely say that we will never forget this trip! |

This month, I've begun taking flute lessons in addition to my piano lessons. I still play the recorder. I also started playing baseball with a local CYO team. We practice every day and have games on the weekends. So far, I've played 2nd base in the games we've had. I think spring has finally arrived! Hope you have a good month! |

This is a cool website with projects and lots of art stuff. Be sure to check out The Art Zone where you can make all kinds of art online! One of my favorites is "Paintbox" where you can make pictures and then warp them. The "Collage Machine" is also fun. This is a really great site! |

Gabrielle watched the movie, The Sound of Music for the first time. She loved it and has been singing the songs around the house every minute she's awake. Her favorite part was when they were on the mountain singing, "Do Re Mi." She also likes to act out the part where the children sang the good night song at the party.
Gabrielle has also enjoyed listening to mom read Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder. She can't believe how different life was back then. For a project, Gabrielle made butter like the family in the book.
In Florida, Gabrielle really enjoyed going to the beach and playing in the sand. At Busch Gardens she went on all the little kid rides and even went on the River Rapids ride with us! I think Gabrielle had a great time in Florida and definitely wants to go back. |
