| Happy Halloween!! I have been very busy with Cub Scouts this month.I went on a camping trip on one of the coldest nights of the month, but we still had fun. We had a big campfire and cooked our dinner on it. Then we roasted marshmallows and made banana boats. It rained during the night and some stuff in the tents got wet. In the morning we went walking through the woods even though it was raining. We had to leave the tents up for another day so they would dry. Later in the month, my cub scout pack was in the Halloween parade. The theme for our pack was "Fiesta." My den was a Mariachi Band. We each had an instrument that we pretended to play while music from a CD was playing. Our pack won first place int he parade! I also went to a Scout Extravaganza where we saw all the Boy Scout Troops that we could choose to go to next year. I also was a guest coach at Moravian College for football. I went to the team meeting, two team practices and the football game. It was amazing! It is really loud when they hit each other. I didn't really get to call any plays or anything, but I had a lot of fun. In science this month I have been studying the human body. In Social Studies I learned about the U.S. Government and about the rights and responsibilities of being a citizen. In art I have been studying geometric patterns and the art of M.C. Escher. I tried some tesselations and some patterns with hexagons and triangles. I have read a bunch of really good books, too. I am dressing as a spy for Halloween and Gabrielle is a tiger. My month was great and I hope yours was too! |

| Here's some fun events or things to do for November. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| November 5 - Election Day If you're not 18, ask an adult if you can go with them to your voting place to see how to cast a vote. If you're an adult, make sure to use your right to elect our government and go vote! November 8-9 - Total Lunar Eclipse Most of the U.S. and parts of Western Europe will be able to see the lunar eclipse. It will start at about 6:30 PM in the Easter Standard Time zone (5:30 CST). The full eclipse should be around 8:19PM EST (7:19 CST, 5:19 PST) and will be finished by 10:05 EST (9:05CST, 7:05 PST) Unfortunately, people in Hawaii and Alaska won't get to see it because it will be happening when it is still light out and before the moon rises. Check out more information at: Universe Today. November 11 - Veteran's Day We remember the people who have fought in all the wars. Veteran's Day is on November 11th because that is the day the Armistice was signed that ended World War I in 1918. November 13 - World Kindness Day Help make the world a happy place. Do kind things for others, even people you don't know. Collect some books or toys to give for other kids who need them, take food to a food bank, let a car go before you in traffic, smile at everybody today! November 17 - 23 - Children's Book Week This started in 1919 to celebrate reading. If you are a big kid you can read to a little kid, if you are an adult you can volunteer to read to a class in a school near you, or you can read your favorite book from childhood. Happy reading! November 27 - Thanksgiving Think of all the things that you are thankful for and have a great day! |

| For Halloween, Gabrielle is dressing as a tiger. She fell in love with it when she saw it at the store. She also picked to have her pumpkin carved like a cat. This month Gabrielle went to Lake Nockamixon with my mom. They saw a fish about the size of Gabrielle. They also saw a pool that was humongous. Now she can't wait until summer! Gabrielle was also very excited about her first pair of tap shoes. She couldn't wait to go to her tap class so that she could wear them. Gabrielle is starting to write words. She started with the word "go" and then she wrote "mom" all by herself without asking anybody for help spelling them. Gabrielle wants me to teach her to play "Jingle Bells" on the piano. So I'll be busy teaching her so she can play it when it's Christmas time. |
