Heroes of Legend

PROJECT I.C.O.N.

The Federal Government has long been the butt of endless jokes, scape goats, black sheep and badguy to the average citizen. The problem does not lie in the dislike of the background and structure in the Land of the Brave, but it lies in the conception of the US leaders (from local politicians running up to the current Chief Executive). With the recent activities from around the globe as well as certain tragedies in the US homeland, a plan was hatched at turning around the badguy image our nations leaders have.

What was needed was a concern or fear that united people. The tragic events happening at the hands of other lands and non-patriots sparked the idea. The average United States citizen is scarred. This is the unifying concern needed to open the doors for the national leaders to take back the public and be the good guys. Not only was a unifying concern created another unifying emotion happened, Patriotism. The first step had been accomplished. The citizens are united in concern and patriotism. A plan of action needed to be developed now.

How could these two newfound unifying factors be tied together and produce the positive reactions for the leaders of the country. It took nearly 2 years to develop a working solution. The creation of special teams to counter national threats as well as local threats while working under the banner of the Government. The creation of a group which when seen will symbolize the pride of America and strength of her people. A force which will be synonemous with the Government as well as its citizens. Thus the idea for Project I.C.O.N. was born.

Project I.C.O.N. even the name brings up positive feelings, not to mention being something catchy and not easily forgotten. The idea for the creation was from the ideology of 4 United States Senators: Senator William Jacobs from California, Senator Vanessa Pratlin from Florida, Senator Richard Bernstein from New York and Senator Gregory Dickens from Texas. They proposed the idea of having a government sponsored team which would become a public relations tool and medium between the leaders and the citizens.

The next step was about the teams abilities to deal not only with the threats but also the public relations that is so desperatly needed for this project to work. The general consensious after debates would be shocking. Use the Super empowered people in the country. These beings were perfect because they already had a sort of larger than life feeling attached to them, one in which most citizens would accept right away. From the multitude of respected supers in various cities to the sanctioned city groups, such as the Century Station Centurions to the Lockdown Government teams. Unlike the Sentiles of Liberty and Justice, the I.C.O.N. teams are to be seen as agents of the people not agents of the Government to the people, not to mention keeping within the country and assigned districts (at least officially).

Next step would be to find apropriate candidates to fill the positions as government public servants. The first step was a study in which all current information of known supers was looked into from all over the country. A selection process was needed along with eligibility guidelines needed to be set.

First supers to be looked at were those who given their abilities either by the US government or acquired them while with the US government, and who had the correct image of Hero to the US populace. Sanctioned super agents were looked at second, rated on their ability to do their given jobs as well as how they handled their public life as well as personal life were looked into also. They had to be strict for it would take only one skeleton in the closet to come out from one of these agents to send the project back and further disuade the positive image from the countrys peoples. Next supers to be looked at were unsanctioned supers who had a positive reputation by the government as well as local government and populace. These people would have their minor offences expunged in return for agreeing to become a sanctioned agent of the United States and protect her citizens from all threats from within the American lands and threats from outside sources.

The selection process was brutal and strenous, but 4 teams worth of members were chosen and given apropriate trainging not only for crisis situations but also public relations. Those chosen found the training for the public relations portion of the job was the most grueling event of their lives. They are to be heroes, they are to be the protectors of the public and homeland but first and foremost they are to be the shinning star of what the country will do for its peoples.
