The Avionics/Electronic Warfare Test Division provides the ground-based test and evaluation elements of the EW T&E Process. This includes providing flight test programs with real-time piloted simulations and non-piloted non-real time simulations, and operator-in-the-loop integration laboratories to evaluate hardware and software interactions with the entire test vehicle avionics suite. The Division also supports installed systems testing for programs requiring a large, shielded chamber with radio frequency absorption capability that simulates free space to operate and evaluate installed avionics systems, operates and maintains the ground test capabilities which have been developed to support flight test and are used to validate electronic combat system effectiveness and provides avionics integrated support and software verification prior to flight test. The Division consists of the following:

The Air Force Electronic Warfare Evaluation Simulator (AFEWES) facility located at Fort Worth, TX, provides hardware-in-the-loop capability designed to evaluate EC systems performance against terminal threat systems. Mail comments to Lt. Col. Jane Doe.

redcap.gif - 4.0 K The Real-time Electromagnetic Digitally Controlled Analyzer Processor (REDCAP) facility, located in Buffalo, NY, provides hardware-in-the-loop capability designed to evaluate operational effectiveness of EC components in a real-time simulation of enemy integrated air defense systems. Mail comments or inquiries to Lt. Col. Jane Doe.

The Avionics Test & Integration Complex (ATIC) is comprised of three collocated core test facilities that can operate independently or together to satisfy specific customer requirements. This affords opportunities for all three ATIC facilities to share instrumentation and personnel providing a powerful Test & Evaluation synergism that is unequaled in the nation. crmlabsm.jpg - 4.0 K The Test & Evaluation Modeling and Simulation (TEMS) facility helps test air/space vehicle performance and flying qualities with digitally simulated flight with operator-in-the-loop. In addition, TEMS provides real-time Tactical Environment Simulations and offensive mission and campaign level simulations. Mail comments or inquiries to Joe Williams.

The Integration Facility for Avionic Systems Testing (IFAST) places hardware-in-the-loop on spread benches for testing integrated fire and flight control functions. Mail comments or inquiries to Rick Q. Public.

b1b_sm.jpg - 2.6 KThe Benefield Anechoic Facility (BAF) tests installed EW and avionics systems in a controlled, repeatable test environment. The complete test platform is placed in the anechoic chamber. The chamber provides a large electronically secure and quiet environment which realistically simulates an outdoor range.
