It's Open!

The Golden Meadow Branch Library wanted to have a special place where children could learn more about their town. With the help of generous volunteers, Evelyn Anselmi, Lorraine Bouzigard, and Peggy Duet. the Golden Meadow Branch Library Historic Center was born. After many hours spent painting, building, cataloging donations, preparing pamplets, preparing materials for students, and much more, the Center was open for the public. I hope all of the Golden Meadow citizens find a little time to come and visit the Historical Center. Perhaps you can donate some items and stories from the past that need to go in the center. The volunteers can't wait for everyone to visit the Center.

Golden Promises
Golden Dreams
Golden Meadow

Golden Meadow is located about 35 miles below highway 90 at Raceland, and is located on Bayou Lafourche as it enters the Gulf of Mexico at Fourchon.

Important population increases for the little village came after severe hurricanes forced settlers up the bayou, first from Cheniere Caminada to Leeville and then from Leeville to Golden Meadow.

Our Mission

Golden Meadow Branch Library Historic Center is a collection of artifacts and memorabilia of life in Golden Meadow and the Bayou Lafourche region. It is the mission of the Golden Meadow Branch Library Historical Center to educate the public on the value of our local history. The Center wishes to inform the younger generation of the contributions of their ancestors and how they lived, worked and played.

The purpose of the Center is to research, collect, preserve, and present, as an educational resource, the books, papers, photographs, documents and artifacts, that reflect the social, cultural, and educational and economic history of Golden Meadow and this area.
