The Bachelor of Science program in Mathematics
offers a combination of required courses and electives
that provide a broad background with sufficient flexibility
to satisfy a wide variety of individual interests
and career objectives. The curriculum in mathematics
prepares students for employment in private
industries and government, and for admission to
graduate school in mathematics, statistics, computer
sciences and allied fields.
All mathematics majors are required to complete
123 credit hours of course work including 37 credit
hours in mathematics, 45 hours in departmental
requirement including 18 credit hours in computer
science (which results in an automatic minor in computer
science), 35 credit hours of university core
courses, and 6 hours of general electives. In addition,
all mathematics majors must satisfactory complete a
junior writing proficiency examination, a comprehensive
mathematics examination and a senior thesis.

MISSION
To help students develop proficiency in logical and analytical thinking as well as a comprehensive knowledge of mathematical priciples and concepts.
