The program leading to the Bachelor's of Science Degree in Public Health of Health Sciences is designed to prepare students for entry into graduate and or professional school and or employment. The curriculum provides the student a broad background in health services administration, environmental control, epidemiology and communicable discase control, community health education, public health law and current health issues.
A program in Public Health includes one of three tracks: Health Systems Management, Community Health Education, and Health Sciences (Pre-Physical Therapy). Another option for students is daul degree program with Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. Students must complete an application before being admitted to the program. Student admitted to the Bachelor of Science Program in Health Sciences must attain sophomore standing, maintain a 2.7 cumulative GPA, maintain a 2.5 math/science GPA and earn a grade of C or better in all math and science cources.
MISSION
To prepare majors in Public Health for positions in health systems management, community health education and health sciences (pre-professional) through practical experience and education. The department will provide students in its Public Health programs with the highest quality of undergraduate education based on excellence in teaching, applied research, and services. The department emphasizes service to Louisiana, while serving students from throughout the United States and other countries.

2. To prepare majors in public health for admissions to graduate and or
    professional schools.
3. To prepare students in the public health department to compete
    successfully in the job market.
4. To accommodate non-public health majors, who need public health
    cources.
