  • The Bachelor of Science Program in Biology offers a combination of required courses and electives providing a broad background with sufficient flexibility to satisfy a wide variety of individual interest and career objectives. The curriculum prepares students for entry level employment in biologically related fields, for independent study and research through interaction with scholars and experts in their discipline,and for entry into medical, dental, pharmacy,and graduate schools.

    The Biology curriculum requires a total of 126 or 128 hours for graduation, with a total of 39 hours in the major courses. The total number of core courses is 35, the total number of other divisional requirements exclusive of courses in the major is 46, and the total number of general electives is 6 or 8. The Writing Proficiency Examination, Senior Comprehensive and Community Service are also requirements for graduation.

    MISSION
    To prepare majors in biology who demonstrate knowledge of basic biological programs, research methodology and applications so that they will exhibit readiness for entry-level employment in biologically related schools and graduate and professional schools.
