November 2008 - The Ulster Kerry Blue Terrier Club will celebrate its 75th anniversary in 2009. As part of our celebrations we have applied to the IKC for a second
Club Show, if approved, this Show will be held on the weekend of the Euro Show. Our Champions Book will be launched that weekend. The closing date
for inclusion in this book is the end of December.
The Scottish Terrier Club of Ireland has also applied to hold a second Breed Club Show on the Euro weekend. Further details will follow.

January 2008 - Sam's home fell through, due to no fault of his own. New photos of the Dobe Rescues. Sasha the Kerry Blue Rescue will be groomed again tomorrow and more photos will be available then. Suitable, experienced, permanent homes are urgently required.
At their first show Eoin and Molly did very well. Eoin was Res GSD to his father and unfortunately missed the Puppy Stakes due to a clash with the breed. His sister Molly was finished in the Breed in time to go into the Bitch Stakes class and was pulled in the final 4 of the bitches from an entry of 55 and then in 4th place overall from a total entry of 103. Both were handled expertly by Josh Henderson due to my hip/back problems, I'm looking forward to making a comeback to the Ring shortly! Photos will follow.

Rescue News. Many thanks to Karen for all her work and calls during my honeymoon. Rinca has moved to a new home as she attacked Huntress. Huntress had a pyometra but has been sucesfully operated on and is recouperating well with Niall . Mach is an 18 month old brown Dobe dog that I am taking from his home today, photos available shortly. Many thanks to the Pound Staff for passing on my details to his owner. He will be in foster care until he has been assessed and a suitable home found for him.

September 2007 - Rosie before and after her trim. Many thanks to Karen Clayton (Scottie Rescue) for bringing Rosie to Dublin for me. As we had a Scottie AGM, Seminar and Grooming Demonstration on Sunday I had no time to trim Rosie, but many thanks to Claire Fitzimmons of Fitzimmons Grooming ,Cabra for trimming Rosie and not accpeting payment! Both ladies efforts on behalf of Rosie are greatly appreciated !

Rocky has kennel cough and a badly infected nail, the Vet thinks he may lose this nail. This poor fella is having a terrible time but Ger says despite it all he is a super dog with lots of patience.
Thanks to Ger for his care! Thankfully Kerry Rescue has been quiet since Rocky was rehomed but Rescue in general has not been. I have temporarily branched out to Dobermann Rescue!

Dublin City Council are implementing a ban on certain breeds of dog i.e. Bull Terrier, Staffordshire Bill Terrier, Dobermann Pinscher, German Shepherd Dog (Alsation), Akita, Rhodesian Ridgeback, Rottweiler, Bullmastiff, owned by tenants of Dublin City Council properties. Statistics have shown that breed specific legislation is not an adequate tool to deal with dog attacks, the focus should be on the owners and not the breed of dog. The people who will suffer most from this draconian move by the Dublin City Council will be innocent dog owners and their much loved dogs. The IKC recently made the following statement "Exhibitors wishing to compete in Ireland with dogs already registered with a Kennel Club that is a member of the F.C.I. do not have to register with the Irish Kennel Club. The registration certificates of fellow members of the F.C.I. are acceptable. Please note that for dogs not registered with the Irish Kennel Club a
copy of the dog's Registration documents, Championship titles and Working Class Certificates (WCC), issued by the National Kennel Club of the country in which the dog is registered,
must accompany the entry form for the Show. If no such certificate is submitted the dog will be not be entered for the Show."

Leon is out of the Pound and vaccinated, microchipped and groomed. He is a sweet dog that needs a retirement home, in the short term we also need someone to foster him, preferably

The IKC have announced a new Green Star system, effective from January 2007 and to be reviewd in 2009. We will no longer have the point system. Seven Green Stars will be required to take a dog to its Irish Title. We will also have a Champions Class. A reciprocal arrangement will be in place for countries who allow foreign Champions to earn one CC in this country and attain Champion status. The Ten Group system will also come into effect.

October 2006 - I had the honour of Judging the Futurity for the United States Kerry Blue Terrier Club at Montgomery Weekend.I would like to thank the Committee and Exhibitors for this
privilege and the two Judges I enjoyed sharing it with, Terry Worful and Tony Lopez. Our Best in Futurity was John Saemann, Scott Schuette and Lesley Boynes' Los Carneros Big Slick.
The IKC and the KC, London have agreed to bring CC's to Ireland for our Nine Irish Breeds as a celebration of the World Winners Show 2009.
This show will take place at the RDS the same weekend as the World Winners Show. Further information available.

Sadly a new Kerry exhibitor and lovely young man, Niall Kavangh, lost his battle to recover following a tragic car accident. Niall had embraced
dogdom with lots of enthusiam and eagerness to learn and it was a pleasure to know him, however briefly it was. Niall's last show was the International Kerry Blue Terrier

The Circuit is finished off in style with DJ Carey taking GSD and BOB and Cliodhna taking the Reserve GSB at Tralee Show.
At Limerick Show Sorcha goes one better and takes GSB, BOB and is pulled in final of Group, she now only needs qualifying points for her Irish title
