Robbery (To rob/ A robber) (used with street robbery/bank robbery etc) General term.Used normally for crimes of stealing from a victim who is there at the time ( Theft is used for Shop lifting and car theft - i.e. the criminal has no direct confrontation with his victim)

Shoplifting (to shoplift /a shoplifter) Stealing from shops while the shop is open

 

Smuggling - Bringing something illegally into a country

steaming - A form of aggressive robbery, often taking place on public transport ( buses and trains), whereby groups of youths attack their victims for money.

squatting (To squat/ A squatter) To live illegally in derelict disused homes

Vandalism (To vandalize/ A vandal) The act of causing damage to private or public property - Grafiti,smashing windows etc
