ANIMAL COMPANIONS

As a wind rider and beast master, Dalanar has collected a few animal companions. Different from the beasts of burden employed by farmers and the like, these animals retain much of their wild nature. The relationship between master and beast is more of mutual respect or friendship. Dalanar must contend with the needs and wants of his companions. Rather then seeing this as a burden, he views it more over as a blessing.

Wind racer has been with Dalanar longer then any other of his animal companions. She is a beast from his home world of Gor, a Tarn. The large powerful raptor, much like a giant eagle, is a fierce predator and a powerful hunter. Her plumage is an iridescent purple black. Her claws have been capped in razor sharp mythril. She shares a link with her master closer then any other of the animals, protecting him against all odds. She is a racing Tarn, smaller then the more powerful ones bred for war. She is, in fact, the fastest ever bred. She challenges the very winds for dominance of the sky.

Tremor, a large dire elephant, is the next of Dalanar’s companions. His large size, powerful muscles and elephant like rage makes him a valuable companion. Dalanar came across Tremor during an attack by a powerful wizard controlling various beasts to stage an attack on the castle. Tremor assisted Dalanar in the rebuilding of Arimus city. Dalanar’s next project is to create weapons for the dire elephant to wield with its long, powerful trunk.

Night swoop is the newest addition to Dalanar’s animal companions. He is a fruit bat, but no longer normal. Dalanar thought the fruit bat was just too small and, subconsciously, cast growth on the little bat until it was as large as a riding eagle. Swoop has allowed Dalanar to learn of the bat’s powers of echo location. With the spell, shared senses, Dalanar himself can even gain a new form of night vision. Swoop as a temper and can get surely, especially when his daytime sleeping schedule gets interrupted.
