GJSA 2004 FIXTURE SUMMARY
The
regular season commences on Sunday the 2nd of May &
will conclude for all grades except the U/14’s
& U/17’s on Sunday the 15th of August. The
U/14’s & U/17’s last regular games are
set for Sunday the 22nd of August.
Please
note that for all grades the Home Team (ie team named
first) is to provide a suitable Match Ball & Match
Card. We have also been requested to advise the Match
Card must be completed in full, including the full Christian
(ie first name) & Surname of every player. In the
U/6’s, U/8’s & U/10’s the Home
Team is to also provide a suitable Referee with a knowledge
of the Rooball Rules (please also refer to the attached
Rooball Rule Clarifications).
Referees
will be provided for all U/12, U/14 & U/17 games,
however each side is to provide a suitable Linesman
conversant with the rules of the Game, including the
Off Side Rule.
To
accommodate Rovers request to play some regular season
games at Alexander Park, the last 3 Rounds for the U/6’s,
U/8’s & U/10’s will be played at Alexander
Park. These games have been scheduled to be completed
prior to 11am. The U/12, U/14 & U/17 Games at Eadon
Clarke will start from 11am onwards to ensure players
and family members can travel in time from Alexander
Park to Eadon Clarke for the start of the upper grade
games. Additionally, the last 4 Rounds for the U/17’s
involving the Rovers fixture only, will also be played
at Eadon Clarke. The other U/17 game will be played
at Eadon Clarke, as per the fixtures.
In
terms of the recent GJSA resolution, games are scheduled
for Sunday the 6th of June, which is the Foundation
Day Long Weekend. This fixture is required to ensure
all upper grade home & away games are completed
in time to allow for the Knock Out Cup competitions
and also to allow a reasonable period (ie 4 weeks) for
the sole focus to be placed upon the Country Weeks Teams
leading into the first week of the October School Holidays.
Knock
Out Cup schedules have been included on the fixtures
this year to avoid any confusion. Games will be played
at Alexander Park and only involve grades of U/12, U/14
& U/17. The U/12 Knock Out Cup is a traditional
format over 3 weeks. The U/14’s have a draw the
first week, whereby the first 4 teams drawn will play
in week one and the two undrawn teams (ie Teams 5 &
6) will have a bye in week 1 and automatically progress
to week 2. The Week 2 winners will progress to the final,
which will be played later the same day. With 4 teams
in the U/17 competition the Knock Out Cup will be held
over two weeks as shown on the fixtures. All 3 finals
will coincide on the same say (ie Sunday the 5th of
September) and the plan is to play all 3 games under
lights at Alexander Park. The times & pitch numbers
for all Knock Out Cup Games will be advised closer to
the date.
