| Tuesday, October 14, 2003 "Is that trashcan for you?"--student asking me why the trashcan was beside me at the front of the room. It's amazing how you can suddenly live your life without caffeine--or rather, without all the obvious things that have caffeine in it. I no longer have the coffee in the morning (well, I do--but it's DEcaff), I no longer drink two diet Cokes at school between first and fifth periods, I no longer have sweet tea at lunch...and so on. I've found that Decaf tea and Decaf coffee are OK. They are better than I expected, that's for sure.... And, most of you will think this is mildly amusing---but cigarette smoke makes me ill. Ain't that just HI-LAR-IOUS? Well, I have had bouts with the infamous "morning sickness" for the past two days---it, of course, is a misnomer, because it happens all over the course of a day, not just the morning. Yesterday I was laid up on the couch for a good part of the day with it--if I moved my head a certain way, I wanted to retch. Luckily, today wasn't as bad. I got sick during first period, while reading The Great Gatsby out loud to the class, and had to get a kid to take over reading. The kids are so sweet. They know that I'm expecting (even if I really should have waited a while to tell them, I couldn't help it) and they are just very "motherly" kind of with me. I've figured out that I can't read aloud for a long time because it makes me want to gag. Isn't that funny? Reading makes this teacher GAG!!! I'm starting to notice the whole drool thing too---Jennie warned me about it and it's slowly but surely starting. Other pregnant or formerly pregnant people know what I'm talking about?? Drooling, gagging, sore boobies, the big "C" (you know what I'm sayin')---pregnancy is GLAMOROUS!!! :) As for the big "C"---I have introduced some fiber into my life---hello bran!!! last next |
