SERVICE UNIT AWARDS NIGHT

Congradulations to the leaders who received awards at the service unit awards night.
Alice Few received the Silver Totem Awards from Totem Council.  This awards goes to an adult you performed outstanding service directly to girls.
Kim Tagoai received the Outstanding Volunteer Pin for her service as service unit manager
Karen Foster and Paulette Hillebrand received the Outstanding Leader Pin.  They were nominiated by their troops for outstanding service.
Lisa Bowman, Alice Few, Sarah Klaas and Shelley Sturn received the service unit rainbow award.  This is a new award for our service unit for adults who continuously work to instill the spirit of the promise and laws to the girls.
Gabriele Hammon received the service unit MVP awards.  This is a new award for our service unit.  It it for an adult who had made a significant contribution to the service unit.

The service unit also honored the girls in the service unit who have earned the Gold, Silver and Bronze award this year by giving them the President's Student Service Award. 
Amy Foster (Gold), Samantha Bowman (Silver), Katie Dennis (Silver), Monika Hammon (Silver) and Sarah Kirsch (Silver) received the Gold President's Student Service Award.  This is for students who have done a minimum of 100 hours of community service.  Anna Balzarini (Bronze), Grace Burlingame (Bronze), Emily Foster (Bronze) and Karlee Sturn (Bronze) received the Silver President's Student Service Award.  This is for students who have done a minimum of 50 hours of community service.

We also honored the 2002-03 Service Unit Board by giving them cerificates stating "Thank you for banding us together."  Our two Service Unit Managers received certificates stating, "Thank you for being the Top Banana."
EVENTS FOR 2003-04

The Events Committee is looking for people to help with the following events next year.  The dates listed for each event are tentative until the committee is able to find a location and confirm the date.

October 18:  Older Girl Event-Theme is Troop Beverly Hills (

November 10:  Service Unit Investitute/Rededication Ceremony (This is a leaders meeting night)
November 14:  Service Unit Me and My Family Event-Theme is Sock Hop (
Chair: Gabriele Hammon) This event will also be a community service project-more information to follow
December 12:  Service Unit Holiday Event (

January 16:  Brownie Rally (
Looking for a 6th grade troop for this to use as a bridging activity)
January 23:  Junior Badge Day (
Looking for an older girl troop for this)
February 6:  Cookie Rally (
Looking for a 6th grade troop for this who needs leadership hours)

TROOP ACTIVITIES IN MAY

TROOP 1865: We went to Challenge of the Totem for the first time.  This is were Cadettes and Seniors are tested on their outdoor skills.  This year we were tested on Scat, Tracks and Plants; First Aid; Orienteering and Trail Signs, Campsite Setup; Campsite Maintenance, Dinner Cooking and a surprise challenge. Our goal for the event was to work as a team which we did.  We finished the event in overall 3rd Place with 521 out of 700 points.  We had a great time and plan to go back next year.
TROOP 1733:  We are getting ready to Bridge to Juniors on June 1.  We completed our last Try-It, "My Body".  We are looking forward to next year.
TROOP 2153: We completed our contemporary issue, "Lead to Read."  We went to Scout Night at the Federal Way Fire Department and attended Brownie Rally.  We had prefect attendance at the service unit encampment.  We also had 2 leaders and 7 girls sign up for Day Camp this summer.
TROOP 1344: We attended the Woodland Zoo overnight.
2003-04 SUPER TROOP STAR

Each troop that completes spring registeration will get a bonus star for 2003-04 Super Troop Status.
PERFECT ATTENDANCE FOR 2002-03 LEADER MEETINGS

The following troops had perfect attendance at the leader meetings this past year.

WANTED:  6TH GRADE JUNIOR WHO IS READY TO EARN BRONZE AWARD

We are looking for a 6th grade Junior who has all the steps for her bronze award done and needs a project.  We are in need of a Service Unit First Aid Kit.  If anyone is interested on working on this please let Gabriele Hammon know and she will help set it up.
