Just then a young man with dark hair and a friendly smile approaches you, followed by a large dragon that looks like a diamond. "Welcome to Jewel River Weyr! I am V'lar, rider of diamond Elbereth. I'm the Senior Weyrleader here." A short young woman with long black hair approaches from behind him, and says softly,"And I'm Halia, the weyrwoman. Welcome to the weyr." Then she grins. "I hope you're not TOO hyper, my crystal, Shaniyath dislikes candidates who are too hyper!"

Jewel River Weyr is located in the far western part of the Southern Continent. The Weyr is near a beautiful river and lake at the foot of a small mountain range. The Weyr is named for the river which looks like a river of jewels at sunrise and sunset. The main rider weyrs, lower caverns, kitchens, and offices are in the nearest mountain. The candidate and weyrling barracks are wooden buildings by the entrance to the caves that make up that main weyr.

Due to the sudden increase of the Southern Continent's population it was decided that another Weyr was needed. So Jewel River Weyr was formed. V'lar rider of diamond Elbereth were sent to be the Weyrleader and he was later joined by Halia rider of crystal Sheniyath. Surprisingly the only dragons ever Hatched at Jewel River Weyr were mutations.
