2002-03:
On 23rd March Arenas threw his
career-high at 41 points (15-23 FG, 4-8 3FG, 7-9 FT) while competing against
Washington and scored 20-or-more points in seven straight from 3/1-3/14 to mark
the longest 20-point game streak of his career. On 9th March he
scored 28 points at Detroit which included his career-high five three-pointers
(5-9 3FG). On 21st February he scored 14 of points vying against New
York in the fourth quarter, leading comeback victory. On 11th
February he scored 37 points at Atlanta, including 21 points in first half, as
well as game-winning steal. On 14th January he added to his
credentials 31 points and eight assists in 33 minutes against Memphis, matching
career-highs for free throws. He became first Warrior with 15 assists on 26th
March 2001 against New York.
2001-02:
Arenas appeared in 47 games with 30 starts, averaging 10.9 points, 2.8 rebounds,
3.7 assists and 1.47 steals in 24.6 minutes. Among all the beginners he was
ranked 4th in scoring, 3rd in assists, 3rd in steals, 10th in minutes, 8th in
field goal percentage (.453 ), 4th in free throw percentage (.775 FT% ), 10th in
free throws made (124), 4th in three-point percentage (.345 3FG%), 9th in
three-point field goals made (39) and 7th in assist-to-turnover ratio. The
beginner of the month for April after averaged 16.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 6.1
assists and 2.00 steals in nine games. He was also teamed with 21-year-old
colleague Jason Richardson to form youngest beginner backcourt in NBA. From the
time he made his first career start vs. San Antonio on 15th February,
in his 35 games he averaged 13.9 points, scoring 15-or-more points in 15 of
those contests, and 20-or-more quartet of times. On 21st March he
threw his career-high of 32 points (11-15 FG, 2-2 3FG, 8-9 FT), four rebounds,
five assists, three steals and one block in 35 minutes vs. L.A. Clippers. In
2001-02 he tied for third-highest point total as an NBA beginner.
COLLEGE:
Arenas played two seasons at the University of Arizona as an early entry
candidate. He was ranked 25th on the Arizona career when he left the school and
became the sixth player in school records to reach the 1,000 point plateau. In
2000-01 when he was still a sophomore he appeared in 36 games. He was also Named
Honorable Mention Associated Press All-American and First Team All-Pac-10
Conference. He also earned Midwest Regional Most Outstanding Player honors and
lead Arizona in the National Championship game. He also became Arizona�s co-Most
Valuable Player by his teammates and his 69 three-pointers ranked ninth on
Arizona�s single-season list. He was also Named to All-Pac-10 Freshman Team and
was an All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention selection and became the Most Valuable
Player of the Preseason NIT after leading Arizona to the championship
