Keyboarding Applications (Prerequisite:  None)
Grade level: 8,9,10,11,12 (Standard Weight)

Keyboarding Applications, formerly called typewriting, is a one-year, single-block course offered to all students.  Students develop skills in touch keyboarding and correct manipulation of the keyboard.  The students receive basic literacy knowledge and skills that include electronic computer components and operation, terminology, word processing, database management, spreadsheets, and graphics applications.  It is also a basic communications course with emphasis on the application of keyboarding skills to personal and business letters, outlines, manuscripts, and tabulated reports.  This course fulfills the local requirement for a computer course.

Office Administration (Prerequisite:  Keyboarding Applications)
Grade level: 9,10,11,12 (Standard Weight, Grades 9-10/Dual Credit, Grades 11-12 - 6 VCCS College Credits)

Office Administration is a one-year, single-block course with emphasis on the development of word processing applications and office procedures skills.  Additional units of instruction include operation of various office equipment, oral and written communication, records management, human relations, and office careers orientation.  This course fulfills the local requirement for a computer course.

Dual Credit Office Administration is offered as a dual credit option for 11th and 12th grade students.

AST 243 (VCCS)
Develops an understanding of the administrative support role and the skills necessary to provide organizational and technical support in a contemporary office setting.  Emphasizes the development of critical-thinking, problem-solving, and job performance skills in a business office environment.
AST 244 (VCCS)
Enhances skills necessary to provide organizational and technical support in a contemporary office setting.  Emphasizes administrative and supervisory role of the office professional.  Includes travel and meeting planning, office budgeting and financial procedures, international issues, and career development.

NOTE: Completion of this course may prepare students for apprenticeship in an occupation related to administrative support.  For further information contact guidance.

Students will be responsible for purchasing their own WCC textbooks.

Accounting (Prerequisite:  Keyboarding recommended, Tech Prep sequence)
Grade level:  10,11,12 (Standard Weight)

Accounting is a one-year, single-block course with emphasis on accounting principles as they relate to both manual and computerized financial systems.  Reinforcement activities and business simulations strengthen the learnings in accounting cycles.

Dual Credit Advanced Accounting (Prerequisite: Accounting, Tech Prep sequence)
Grade level: 11,12 (Standard Weight - 8 VCCS College Credits)

Advanced Accounting is a one-year, single-block course designed to utilize microcomputers to automate, analyze, and interpret business applications including payroll, inventory, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.  Management of financial records through various business activities, partnership and corporate accounting, general ledger, and cost accounting are also included.  This course fulfills the local requirement for a computer course.

ACC 111 (VCCS) presents fundamental accounting concepts and principles governing the accounting cycle, journals, ledgers, working papers, and preparation of financial statements for sole proprietorship.
ACC 112 (VCCS) presents the analysis of financial statements for sole proprietorships, partnerships and corporations.
ACC 113 (VCSS) provides problem-solving experience to supplement instruction in ACC 111. Must be taken concurrently with ACC111.
ACC 114 (VCSS) provides problem-solving experience to supplement instruction in ACC 111. Must be taken concurrently with ACC112.

Students will be responsible for purchasing their own textbooks.
