Subordinating conjunctions
These conjunctions are used to link clauses that cannot stand on their own. They are preceded by a comma and send the verb to the end:
weil (because) wenn (if, when) da (as, because) damit (so that, with the intention that)
ob (if, wether) obwohl (although) als (when in past) so dass (so that, with the result that)
dass (that) nachdem (after)
z.B. Ich bleibe zu Hause, wenn das Wetter schlecht ist.
Ich weiss nicht, ob er zu meiner Party kommt.
Wir hoffen, dass wir gute Noten bekommen.
N.B. Note the word order if the conjunction is placed first in the sentence:
Obwohl er wenig Geld hat, gibt er mir immer ein Geschenk zum Geburtstag.
