February
Community Service
In February, the George's Creek 4-H Club visited with Midland's Adult Daycare. The club entertained the clients with a skit about Valentine's Day, and presented each person with a homemade Valentine card and a box of tissues.
Preparing for County Speech Contest
In a special March meeting, club members Kendra Eisentrout, Becky Frey, and Jolisa Stewart did prepared speeches. Jordan Eisentrout and Wayne Mayhew did a radio spot, and Wisha Ahern did the 4-H pledge (shown). Karen Naylor was judge for the night.
County Speech Contest

Jordan and Kendra Eisentrout, Becky Frey, and Jolisa Stewart participated in the 4-H County Speech Contest. Jordan placed second in the intermediate radio spot category. Kendra placed second in the intermediate prepared speech category, and Becky Frey placed second in the junior prepared speech category. Jolisa won "champion" in the intermediate prepared speech category and will represent the county at the regional competition in April.
4-H Appreciation Dinner
Six club members and four parents attended the annual 4-H Appreciation Dinner. Seven club members were recognized for completing record books and projects during the year. The Sutherland family won "4-H family of the Year" and Jolisa Stewart won a special award for "Most Growth". Jolisa was also recognized for having won a state title (Reserve Champion) in the junior prepared speech contest in 2000.

Adopt-A-Highway

Four club members and two parents cleaned up trash along the highway in Midland, Maryland on April 16th as our community service project for April.

Club Awards
George's Creek 4-H Club awards were presented at a special meeting on April 26th for 2000. See photos and a list of award winners here.
May
Dapper Dan Parade
Our club entered a float in the annual Dapper Dan Parade. Our theme this year was "Life, Liberty, Freedom" and featured our take on the famous "raising of the flag" photo from WWII.
Campfire Meeting
We had a campfire, hotdogs, marshmallows, and all the trimmings at our regular May meeting. We also put our Dapper Dan float back together for the Lonaconing Fireman's parade.

We entered our "Life, Liberty and Freedom" float in Lonaconing's Firemen's Parade June 2.
