Carriage House

The Carriage House was built at the same time as the home in the same architecture style with pillars at each end to support the overhang of the roof. This structure has two entrances. One side was used to stable the family horse. Back then, the stalls were cleaned and the manure was used as fertilizer for the lawns. I'm sure that there was feed corn growing here and there around the property! The other side was used to house the horse carriage.

The Carriage House had to be reinforced from the inside to provide stability in the property's renovations. Underground electric lines were run from the house so that the Carriage House would have modern conveniences such as lighting and electrical outlets. The cement flooring was replaced and leveled where water ran down from the driveway and settled.

This area is now used to house a horseless carriage (automobile) and storage for lawn and garden equipment. A covered car port was erected in front of the left entrance for additional covered parking.

Sturdy carport keeps even snow off vehicle.

As we take you back around to the front of the house and onto the front porch, we welcome you to come inside and visit us!
