The Front Foyer

The foyer sits between two sets of doors and window panels. The interior door is as wide as the exterior door. This is a great feature, especially in the winter, as you can close the doors to the interior of the house to answer the door. It permits guests to view through the foyer into the hallway, which always extends a special welcome.

The original radiator provides heat to the area welcoming guests on winter days. You saw the exterior of the front door when you were on the porch. George replaced the clear glass with lead glass throughout the foyer exterior.

The lead glass borders the door on both sides and in

The interior door and window panels are the original clear glass. They provide a view of the foyer area and entrance doorway from the hallway.

The renovations included stripping seven layers of wallpaper and paint. The walls and ceiing were replastered. Ceiling fresco was added as a special touch with a hanging ceiling fixture mounted in the fresco center.

The walls were then wallpapered with the same fleur de lis wallpaper that extends through the hallways and stairway. The motorstat wall controls were installed for each of the front porch ceiling fans on the wall.

The original Mexican designed tile on the floor remains as a part of Tiarabella's yesterday. Although it is in beautiful condition, it really doesn't go with this house. It was cemented down and would involve high risk to the Honduras mahogany woodwork and the leaded windows to remove. Therefore, it was not included in the renovations.

The east wall of the foyer houses a cabinet.

The wall switches for the porch light and the foyer light are located on the woodwork of the foyer wall on the hallway side. These are the original push button recepticles. You can see these recepticles in the image below.
