The Original Bathroom

This is the one and only bathroom that was in this home originally. Through the years, the bathtub was moved to the other side of the room – originally it was in the corner were the cabinets are now. Originally, it was placed on a heavy concrete slab that was tiled. The sink and the light fixture over the sink are original to the house.

The first thing to do was some major repairs to the flooring and replaced it with floor tile like the original, which is still available today. The walls were stripped and replastered. The water closet was replaced and the bathtub was re-enameled. The room was wallpapered and woodwork and ceiling painted. The closet houses an electrical box and a wall access to the laundry shoot. We don't use this laundry shoot but it does go down all the way to the basement into the laundry room. Unlike the other rooms which have gold plated fixtures, this room has chrome fixtures and wallplate. The faucets on the sink were here. We didn't want to put up hanging towel racks as this room has limited wallspace. A standing rack also holds towels next to the sink. A chrome wall fixture next to the bathtub holds your bathrobe while you bathe. Chrome wall fixtures were mounted behind the sink for soap and water glass.
