"Queen of the Damned"
On To last nights movie. It has been constantly advertised as a vehicle for the recently killed singer and actrice Aalyia who plays the title roll. What they don't mention in the advertisments is that the title caractor doesn't enter the scene until half way in the movie and that it really isn't about the title caractor but about the vampire Lastat who is returning to active living after a hundred year absence. Now that i have explained that much i will ge to the point. It was not very good at all. They had good material to work with but somehow missed the mark. the acting thought they had several well known actors wes pretty bad. Aalyia herself was not the best of ators and received such bad direction that she came off as campyu not in the least commanding or scary. Add to that the music, thought it fit what was described in the book it was the opposite of what most people would expect with Alyia, a well known hip-hop artist staring in it. It was the new brand of hard rock that has become so popular. The music was performed by thebiggest names in the new crop of rockers, all whom I myself like a lot but not what the mostly hip-hop oriented audience expected or I think much appreciated. I will end the critique by saying that it was lacking enough that Chalres took a couple of cat naps during the movie. Oh and also though I enjoy the new rock they were playing it so loud that even I had a hard time enjoying it.
So now that most of the week is over all I have left is to cook tonight and then spend the afternoon and evening at a pot luck on Saturday. the theme, and the two couples hosting this dinner rreally love themes, will be movie scenes where the music really plays a large roll in setting the feeling. I have yet to decide what movie/s I am going to bring.
I'm entering this in at work and have a lot to do today so I will call it quits but will let you know how the weekend goes on monday.
