Lesson # 142136b

Charles was suppose to fly back Sunday morning and I was to pick him up at the airport ~ 9:00.  So David and I decided to go after picking him up.  He (Charles) ended up calling to let me know that he would be coming in at 4:30 instead.  So David and I headed out to the Renaissance Festival for the day.  It was a cold, dreary and wet day so there weren't many people there.  Going to Ren-Fest is like going to the Zoo or to Worlds of Fun.  It is much more fun when there are only a couple of you.  That way it is much easier to decide what to do.  We ended up having a great time despite the bad weather.  We already have plans to go to the races next week but are hoping to go back to Ren-Fest with a big group of people the week after.  Which reminds me that I need to I-message Charles to see if he wants to join us.  Normally my sunday afternoons are spent w/ Andy, shopping and having a late lunch. We were unable to get together this week  and actually haven't gotten together for several.  He Spent two weeks in Arizona and then was up at the condo in Colorado the last couple of weekends. I will have to call him and try to get together during the week this week to get caught up.

Back to Sunday. so after a good but exhausting day at Ren-Fest David and I headed up to the airport to pick up Charles.  We continued our conversatioi from the car while we waited and before we knew it the time for Charles plane had passed.  We went back up to the counter to check flight time and found out that the time had changed.  Though we had called before his flight was to have taken off and again when he should have been in the air we had been told both times that his flight was running on time.  When we checked again  after it should have landed we were told that it was now going to be at least 1 1/2 hours late.  David had to be someplace by six so we left the Airport and I took him back to his place and then went back. By the time I got back to the airport Charles plane was about to land and I took him home.

By the time I got home I was exhausted.  I was done in by the combination of walking all day in the cold and rain and driving six times across the city in rain and wind.  Mid town to Independence, Indepencence to Bonner Springs, Bonner Springs to the Airport north of North Kansas City, back to Independence, and then back to the Airport one more time.  Finally home to Midtown from the Airport.  If the weather had been fine I wouldn't have minded but I dislike driving in driving rain much more than in snow.  In snow people are more likely to realize the danger and drive slower but in rain people are loath to slow down ( including me) and are more apt to have stupid accidents.

The Olympics have been on this past week and I have been watching a large part of them every evening.  But on Sunday I just wanted to sit, listen to music and read.

Speaking of Music My Friday was also fairly busy.  I worked for John getting off at about 7:00 and then went to Best Buy to by a new compact stereo.  I have been wanting to get a new stereo for about two years ( my CD player was bad) but had been putting it off for a number of reasons ending with wanting to get separate component pieces because I had been told that seperate components would be better to use w/ a DVD; something else I have been wanting to get.  So I finally had talked to David a couple of weeks ago and he told me that he had his DVD hooked up to his compact unit and it worked well.  So I spent Friday evening, after getting off from John's, picking out a new system w/ surround sound and then hooking it up at home. Finally that is out of the way.

I had told myself that I would buy a new DVD player as a self-gift for having quit smoking at the six month mark.  Well it has been nine months and I have yet to get it.  So now I am going to make that my Christmas/Hanakkah gift to myself.  Wish me luck in following through.

That's all for now.  Hopefully I will continue this next weekend.
