Dinner, a play and  oo la la!!

Lesson # 14023

previous day's entry the rest of this entry

I am going to stop starting these entries saying that nothing happened during the week.  That is just stating the obvious.

This weekend I went to dinner and a play with Christi and a couple of her friends. Jack and Joan.Jjoan reminded me a lot of Christi and I could easily see why they were friends.  Jack was, I thought, Joans boyfriend or husband. Joan is Anglo-American and Jack is Filipino.  I was attracted to him from the moment I saw him. He is quite handsome and personable. Their personal styles seemed quite incongruous, I would never have thought they werre a couple if I hadn't seen them together.  They both seemed quite nice and we headed over to the Stateline area by Westport Road for some Mexican food.

The play wasn't going to start until eleven, so we didn't get together for dinner until about 9:00. When we got to the restaurant it wasn't very crowded.  It did have a Mariachi band playing though,  which made it even noisier than it would have been if the place had been crowded.  I usually like Mariachi music but this restaurant is fairly small and the music was so loud you couldn't hear the person next to you talk.

Christi and Joan seemed to have a lot to talk about so I ended up talking with Jack, not that I minded.  The more I talked with him the more I liked and was attracted to him. This was quit odd, normally when I realize a guy is str8 I am no longer particularly attracted to him.  I may still think he is quite cute and that it is a waste but I loose all interest.  In the middle of the conversations we were discussing a dish that he had ordered but which after tasteing I decided I didn't like. He went on to explain that he had first come to this restaurant with a date and that this date had ordered the dish.  He had let him try it and that Jack had liked it enough to get it each time he came.  Did you get that part, his date had been a he. Now, I have a fairly mixed group of friends.  Black, White, Hispanic and Asian, male& female, foreign and American, gay lesbian & str8. So when I am introduced to someone I take things at face value until informed otherwise.  Well when Joan and Jack came into Christi's house you could tell right away that they were together.  Plus the fact that when Christi told me they would be joining us she mentioned them in one breath as if they were a couple.  So my reaction to him and his statement kind of threw me off.  We continued our conversation but the whole time his comment was in the back of my mind.

After our meal came he turned to me and asked how long Christi and I had been married.  I was to shocked to reply. Christi, having heard the question started to laugh and said that we weren't  but had been friends for years.  I then took the opportunity to ask about him and Joan.  Joan also laughed and said that they were not together either and further that Jack was gay. Boy neither of our gaydar was working properly.
