Larry: Wild. A black ball flying down.
Geoff: Very slow, cause he doesn't want to impact on the ground. Okay, you get 300 feet from
the ground -- by the way, this is a mile drop -- the griffons start a recovery [from
the dive].
Tony: Hang on a sec, Geoff, you say he's flying?
Geoff: Yeah, but he can't see where he's going.
John: The dragons are taken care of.
Geoff: Yeah.
Tony: I meant the guys that are flying.
Chris: Yeah, one's got darkness on him, what about the other one?
Geoff: He's dead. His dragon was cut in half. Any way they pull out of the dive, they land,
and there's an encampment there.
Larry: Of who?
Geoff: Of the same people that were on top.
Larry: Give the parchment to the nearest person.
Geoff: He starts reading it ... "into the corral." In there, you see these kind of beasts,
they're 2-legged, they have tails, they look almost like an ostrich, but their neck is
a lot --
Tony: Oh, I've seen those.
Geoff: [?] big heads.
Larry: These are the ones that cast fireballs with their eyes.
Chris: When we land, I turn around and I keep an eye on that fucking black ball coming down
to the ground.
Geoff: He's going so slow --
Tony: I could dispel him and make him fall.
Larry: He's probably flying naturally.
Tony: That's what I thought, that's why I didn't want to.
Chris: [?]
Geoff: It'll be about an hour.
Tony: Geoff, just where he's about to land, a delayed blast fireball.
Chris: It'll be an hour before he lands.
Larry: The longest delay is 5 rounds.
Tony: Forget it.
John: So put it just under him.
Geoff: Let the guys [the NPCs] take care of it, you11 be out of there. This guy tells you,
these beasts have little sacs under their eyes, you're gonna be riding, they cast
fireballs from there. You can't tell them when, theyll do it on their own. These guys
can ride 2 days with us.
Larry: Well, the sooner we start ...
Chris: Where are we going?
Geoff: To Plume Mountain. It's going to be 2 days to get there. As you're leaving you can see
arrows flying down. But you get out of there.
Larry: 2 days? ... heal.
John: Heal.
Anthony: I got 187 hit points damage. How much do we get every day, 5?
Geoff: In this terrain --
Larry: Do you have any other way to heal?
Anthony: No.
Larry: Oh, my God.
Geoff: In this terrain, these beasts can only travel halfway to the mountain. Because of the
terrain. Normally, in plains or stuff, they can go 2 days.
Chris: I don't understand this. We're inside at the bottom of the Rift?
John: Yeah.
Chris: And what are we riding to?
Geoff: It's a volcano.
Chris: I see. Okay.
John: It's called White Plume mountain.
Geoff: You camp for the night.
John: Guards.
Geoff: Who's guarding?
John: I do.
Geoff: Just you or --
John: Double guards.
Anthony: I'll guard with him.
Geoff: You can sense evil around -- the fire goes out, and there's big thick black smoke.
John: Let's get the fuck out of there!
Larry: That's a magic-user spell!
Chris: Move.
Geoff: Initiative.
Anthony: Wake up the party.
Geoff: 6.
John: 6.
Chris: I just fucking tear out of the area.
Geoff: Where the fire was, you can see a dark figure standing there, and the ground -- it's
ground there now, there's no fire -- the ground is red, and it's moving, out in a
circle, looks like lava.
John: Mmm.
Chris: Okay, I move out of the area, and I just fire on it.
Tony: Geoff, I don't know what damage this particular cold spell will do to him, beyond the
normal damage, 75, cone of cold.
Chris: What's his armor class!
Geoff: -10. You can hear noises behind you, also. In various areas.
John: I'm keeping my eyes on where the other noises are coming from.
Larry: Same here.
Geoff: Tony, what was that damage from?
Tony: Cone of cold. It's cold based, does it do anything extra to him that I see?
Geoff: You don't notice anything.
Tony: Okay.
Larry: Geoff ... 60 points from a cone of cold.
Tony: Yeah, Lar. Yeah.
Larry: Bigger.
Geoff: Each person make a saving throw versus spells 3 times.
Larry: I'm getting tired of this 3 time business -- Tony, what kind of fucking candy are you
eating, it's turning my stomach!
John: Yes.
Tony: What, aspartame.
Larry: It's gross!
Tony: It's Freedent.
Larry: It's carcinogenic.
Tony: Made my saves, all 3 times.
Chris: Geoff, I'll fire 6 arrows into this bag of crap and give him 102 points of damage.
Anthony: 75 into that guy.
Geoff: Did you make your saving throws?
Tony: Yes, I did.
Geoff: 65.
Tony: What was it?
Larry: Yes, no, yes.
Geoff: Do you have a ring of fire resistance?
Larry: No.
Geoff: 76.
John: What are they firing at us?
Geoff: They're using fireball, lightning bolt, and firestorm [?].
John: Immune to the fireball, immune to the lightning bolt.
Geoff: Immune to them?
John: Yeah.
Geoff: You get 21.
Anthony: [?] get half with my [red dragon] scale.
Geoff: Take a quarter. If you made all your saves.
Anthony: I made all 3.
Geoff: You get 40. Chris, [?]. It's still alive, behind you, there are demons.
John: That's the ones I'm going to try to take care of.
Geoff: They're dretch demons, big fat ugly things.
Tony: Alright, Geoff, Im using a frost brand [sword] now.
John: 6 [for initiative].
Geoff: [apparently loses initiative.] With the flashes of light and fireballs, it's a witch
that's standing in the middle.
Chris: Im picking the bitch off. Those little geeks we were riding on, what are they doing,
are they freaking out and firing off little fireballs everywhere?
Geoff: They're standing back, they don't want to fire off fireballs, cause they're right
there.
Chris: Oh. Okay.
Larry: How many dretches are there?
Geoff: 12.
Larry: Christ, everything comes in dozens now.
Geoff: They're armor class 2.
Chris: Somebody haste me.
Larry: Haste.
John: Thank you.
Chris: Good.
John: Does decapitation work on these guys?
Geoff: No. They don't have a neck.
Anthony: Geoff, 160 on the witch. Normal arrows, +4 bow.
Geoff: Who's using hand-held weapons?
John: I am.
Tony: I am.
Chris: I am.
Geoff: You'd have to stand in the lava.
John: I'm going after the demons.
Geoff: Oh, okay.
John: How big are these, Geoff?
Chris: 116 points damage on the witch, with the bow.
Larry: Geoff, Andrew gives 142 to the witch.
John: Geoff, 96 points damage on the demon, does he drop?
Geoff: On one, he's dead.
John: Okay, another one, 84.
Geoff: Dead.
Larry: What are the dretches' armor class?
Geoff: 2.
Tony: Geoff, arrows on the witch, 259. I'm hasted.
Chris: Yeah, I still got 6 more shots to do. I forgot I was hasted.
John: Don't forget, you age from that.
Tony: I should have hasted myself, I wouldn't have aged.
Chris: [?] points of damage.
Larry: Is the witch alive?
Geoff: Still alive. It's encased in fire. You see all these insects coming at you.
Larry: How healthy does the witch look?
Geoff: Almost dead. There's an insect plague, your vision is down to 3 feet. [?] the dretch.
Tony: Geoff, those insects --
John: Initiative.
Geoff: It's my turn.
Larry: There were a dozen dretches?
Geoff: You attacked the witch, didn't you?
Larry: No, Andrew did.
Geoff: Oh, okay. They're not in one group. They're surrounding --
Larry: I just got out 12 shots.
Geoff: Okay, give me damage for each one.
Larry: 22. That's an average, cause I added them all up. This haste is insane. I can empty
a quiver in 2 rounds.
Geoff: Tony, you're being telekinesed toward where the witch was.
Tony: Do I get a saving throw on spells?
Geoff: No. You can try to grab onto something on the way.
Tony: Dispel it.
