FAQ's
Q: Do I have to be Asian to join?
No.
Sigma Psi Zeta embraces diversity, welcoming members of all races
& cultural backgrounds. We believe that our mission to promote
awareness of the Asian/Asian-American culture is strengthened by the
diversity of our members regardless of race, religion, or creed.
Q: What is RUSH?
RUSH
is a two week long process held the beginning of every school semester.
The purpose of RUSH is for you and the sisters to interact and get
to know each other. RUSH is a time when you can learn more about Sigma
Psi Zeta and other sororities to evaluate if Sigma, or even Greek
life, is for you.
Q: What is expected of me as a rushee?
Rush
events are FREE to rushees. All that we ask of you as a rushee is
that you come ready to have fun!
Q: How long is your pledging process?
The
length of our pledging program varies with each pledge class, with
a minimum of 6-8 weeks.
Q: Does your organization haze?
No.
Sigma Psi Zeta does not endorse degrading or physically abusing our
pledges in any way. We give our pledges the same respect that we,
as strong women, demand. Our pledging program is designed to educate,
not degrade!
Q: Do you have a brother fraternity?
No.
As a sorority, we function entirely independently. As Sigma women,
our independence is something we take extreme pride in.
Q: Do I sign up for Inter-Greek Council (IGC) Rush to RUSH
Sigma Psi Zeta?
No.
We are a part of the Allied Greek Council on the SUNY Geneseo campus,
so you do not need to sign up for IGC Rush. However, we do encourage
you to rush other Greek organizations in order to better evaluate
which organization you feel is right for you.
