Your contents was excellent. I spent about an hour on it.
About myself :
Graduated in engineering in India in fall 1996. I joined in my family coffee estate in Annamalai hills (Tamilnadu ,south India) worked till sept 97 then went UK to do my MBA at the University of Wales at Cardiff and after I finished my MBA I have jo
ned my family's coffee estate.
I am interested in organic certification of coffee. What does organic really mean ? We have cultivated coffee for three generations in the by using a reasonable amount of petrochemicals and a small amount of organic manure. We are able mainta
n profitable production and the coffee from our region are largely exported to the US as ordinary washed indian arabica.
What is the potential for organic arabica ?
What is the price for it?
what are the advantage of organic coffee cultivation for the producer?
If you have any information , titles of books , URLs , names of faculty on this subject please send me an email
[email protected]
If you I can send you some possible info or photos on Indian arabica coffee estates.
Nice meeting you
bye bye

Hi everybody! I am a researcher of the AREA Science Park of Trieste and I am doing a study on coffee origin and quality. I am using stable isotopes (no radiactivity is involved) to create a data bank of the different types of coffee and I am looking for c
ffee growers willing to take part into the project. At the end of the study I will provide all the partecipants with the analysis of the samples and the interpretation of the results of their coffee products.
For further information on the project, please feel free to contact me any time.
The end of the research is setted in June 2001.
Thanks, gracias, merci, grazie!

I teach International Development at URI and have been fortunate to bring some of my students to live and work with Costa Rican coffee farmers. Be well, David Abedon

I found this forum very interesting and full of great possibilities. I own a cofee farm which has been almost abandoned for more than 25 years, and I got the challenge of retrofitting it as a fully organic farm, putting special care to preserve the magnif
cent biodiversity currently found. Our doors are open for non-profit research or experimental jobs that somehow contribute to organic food development

Hello Jennifer,
I am a permaculture designer and qualified agroforester based in Melbourne, Australia. My family and I are planning to move to the east coast, sub-tropical region of Australia with the intention of growing organic coffee. I am trying to find as much infor
ation on organic and shade grown coffee as I can, but here in Australia we have very little available information. Would you be able to help me with any resources on the topic of shade grown or organic coffee? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated:

Dear Jennifer,
I was worked with coffee and conservation issues in the Peace Corps in Costa Rica 95-97, and had been writing a forestry masters paper (not thesis level though) regarding shade coffee issues, and getting a graduate minor in sustainable agricultural system
. I'd set the work aside for awhile to work full-time and am also interning with a group working with shade coffee and fair trade issues in coffee and certification (organic, etc.). I had thought to return to writing it, but am looking for ways to differe
tiate it from the work I've found since then, mainly Beer et. al.'s work in Agroforestry Systems (1997), and now since I see you've really looked at the certification side I'll be looking anew for my niche in this whole coffee/shade/organic issue. It's an
expanding and fascinating area.
I plan to read your work via interlibrary loan, it seems fascinating what I've seen on the web.
Where did you go in Costa Rica? Were you in contact with ANAO, ECO-O.K., UCR or other organizations? I'd love to get in touch and I know some contacts you could use for future visits.
Sincerely,
Nikos
