After the death of Ann M. Francis (Fannie) Formy-Duval, John Paul Formy-Duval
married Elizabeth Ann Trantham, by whom he had several children. At his death
all of his estate was given to the children of Elizabeth Ann. Elizabeth Ann
then gave Frances C. Connell, nee Formy-Duval a plot of land in Floral City,
Florida, which she later deeded to someone else, saying that the deed to Frances
was issued erroneously. This leads to the conjecture that since Francis was
the child from John's first marriage, Elizabeth Ann treated her like the proverbial
stepchild.
John Paul Formy-Duval died in February, 1879, but records indicate on 22 and
24 September 1879 he executed and registered a deed giving all of his land and
property to the father of Elizabeth Ann Formy-Duval, nee Trantham. The next
day the property was deeded back to her in her name. Since this was done seven
months after his death, it was probably a ploy by Elizabeth's father to give
her clear title to the land, but it is possible it was done to prevent Francis,
John's daughter from his first marriage from making claim to the land. Children
