Position Qualifications:

To be a Lieutenat Governor a person must be 30 years or older.  He or she must have been a registered voter for at least 4 years prior to appointment.  He or she can not have been convicted of a violation of 12a(1) of act No. 370 of the Public Acts of 1941, being section 381129 of the michigan compiled laws 20 years prior to appointment.

Candidates for Lieutenat Governor are nominated at their party's national and state party conventions.

Ballot Qualifications:

To be placed on the voting ballot in Michigan, a candidate for Lieutenat Governor must have affiliation with one of the main political party's or they must file a petition.  The petition needs signatures at least equaling 1% of the number of votes cast in the last election for Governor.  These signatures must include at least 100 signatures per congressional district from different congressional districts equaling at least 50% of the total number of congressional districts.
