Earth
< ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
Earth is indeed a unique planet. Not only is it the only planet on which humans exist, but, so far, it is the only planet we know of that contains water on the surface. In fact, the Earth is over 70% water. There are 5 primary landmasses on Earth; Europe, Asia, Africa, the Americas and Antarctica. These are called CONTINENTS. The Earth's crust is only 5 km thick in places, making it relatively thin when compared to other planets. The Earth also has an atmosphere, unlike many other planets in the solar system, which is composed of Nitrogen, Oxygen, Carbon dioxide and many other elements. The Earth also has 2 polar ice caps. Volcanic activity on Earth is relativly quiet. Earth has a diameter of around 14,000 miles. Earth also has a near-perfect circular orbit, an orbit which takes 365 days to complete.
