Horoscope:
We can't help ourselves. We want everything to be just great. The problem is, while our planet is full of fantastic things- glorious trees, stunning skies, awesome oceans and majestic mountains- in the face of natures abundance we think we must also possess that same capacity to shine, but know in reality it's not that simple. When faced with a bill that needs paying, the job that needs doing or the problem that needs solving, our belief in magic slips away. Yet deep within you, a divine spark remains and this week it is due to ignite a flame of immense fulfillment. (Jonathan Cainer)

29TH JUNE 2003: I HATE DIRECTORS & S1M0NE

I had something intelligent to say yesterday, however I have forgotten what it was. The idea that it arose during my viewing of Simone creeps into my mind every time that I try to remember what it was. But it has eroded into the darkest depths of my mind, which I am sorry to say, contains a lot of thinking about absolutely ridiculous things. On the other hand, I could give a review of Simone, but I am not sure what to say about it. I thought that it was funny, in a way, however it could have been funnier.
I did enjoy the whole take on the stardom of stars and the stupidity of their demands and pay packets. What is it that I am saying? I dislike very much the way that the actors (and directors, but that isn’t shown in this film) take every single ounce of credit for a film, how the actor had to ‘study’ to fill the roll corrects. I am sorry, but unless they are attempting to imitate someone specific, someone REAL, and need to perfect all the nuances (a la Eric Bana in Chopper), then it is THE WRITER who needs to know about the character. The WRITER who created the character, developed its background, WROTE THE STORY. The rest of the people are putting THE WRITER’S words into action. Of course they get some of the credit, but not the disgusting amount that they actually do. Not all the credit where not deserved.
And Simone says that. That somehow actors have taken the whole film industry over. That is why I like M. Night Shyamalan. Though not every film that he has directed he has written, in fact most of them are. So he has THE RIGHT to claim them as his own. The one person that really annoys me is Steven Spielberg. I think the straw that broke my back was when A.I: Artificial Intelligence was released as "Steven Spielberg’s A.I." PLEASE! He wasn’t even the first director to work on the damned show! Wasn’t the first director Stanley Kubrick before he carked it? Mmm-hmmm. And did either of them write it? Nope. Then why don’t the credits go to IAN WATSON and Brian Aldiss? Didn’t they write the film (the latter wrote the film within a film) and deserve the credit for it? And especially if it didn’t some from a book. Like the film The Quiet American. Who is getting the credit for a film based on a book by Graham Greene? Hmmm, the actors. I am going to give up here because I think that my point is here. Give the original WRITE the credit that is deserved and shunt out the directors. In fact, if you write a film, just DIRECT IT YOURSELF. That is the plan.
Now it is time to sit around doing crosswords waiting for tonight’s Australia’s BB3 Eviction which I am guessing will be Jaime, because he is from Hellhole originally and was an intruder. However last week I was certain that Vincent would be going, instead it was Saxon! OMG, what a shock, I would not have guessed. However it was only a small percentage difference with someone else. I still can’t believe it. I guess being smitten with the most hated Big Brother contestant ever (Jo, with an 86% eviction rating. And she blames it on jealousy? Not that many people are that pathetic! Perhaps her boyfriend called a lot to stop his embarrassment?) gave people a reason to get rid of him. Oh well, intruders never last long, and anyone from Hellhole getting in there in the first place is a miracle! Cheers.
