23RD JUNE 2003: CALLER NUMBER DISPLAY

I first got Caller Number Display because it seemed like a good idea. Then I realized that it came in handy when I missed a call whilst out of the house. Further down the track it became a great way of avoiding debt collectors and people that I did not want to talk to. I came to avoid ever single number that displayed itself as ‘PRIVATE’. That was until recently.
I decided that if I owed someone money it was time that I faced the music. So a few weeks ago when Missy answered one that I was ignoring something strange happened. The person talked to her, however the moment that I took the phone they hung up. Since then- albeit one ‘spam’ call- each time that I answer a ‘PRIVATE’ number the person hangs up on me. There are several people that it could be.
My last guess, and the least likely is Annabelle. I doubt that she would ever call to apologize; she probably thinks that she is in the right; hell she always thinks that she is right. So that rules her out.
The second guess is Maverick. He could just be calling to harass me because I am perhaps the one girl that has not gone crawling back to him after all the shit he put me through. All other ex-girlfriends keep letting him back in their lives. He is a suspect because I saw him yesterday when I was down town. However the calls seem to be going a little too long for it to be just him making the calls.
My first guess, and the one that I believe to be the most likely, and like the idea of, is Mr. Orange. That is Missy’s father. The first hang up private call I ever got was on the night that he would have received the letter from the solicitor (with whom I FINALLY have a meeting tomorrow). The second came on her birthday and spasmodically ever since then. I guess that it could be either, but I prefer the idea of it being Mr. Orange rather than Maverick. I am scared of the DNA testing showing that neither of them is the father, and the worst possible choice being that of Maverick.
I don’t particularly like Mr. Orange, however I prefer the idea of him being her father, and I was certain of it until the day she was born, but then again I was so out of it that any decision that I made was a little hazy. There just seems to be something about Mr. Orange that I DO like, despite not knowing him all that well. We will see once the tests are done. Oh well. Until then I will allow Missy to answer each and every ‘PRIVATE’ number and listen in on the conversation. Cheers.
