| Prisons and jails throughout the Country are overflowing with people whose broken lives have separated them from God and then from their families. Their separation from God contributed to the wrong choices that led to their incarceration. Amid that tragedy, some face execution as well. The criminal justice system doesn't have to be merely a place of punishment; it can be a place of hope and transformation, to ultimately benefit society. This is the objective of Prison Fellowship Philippines in focusing its ministry to the people in jails, and all other detention centers such as drug rehabs. |

President's Bulletin PFP President Butch and wife, Dr. Met Dear Beloved Co-Laborer in the Lords Vineyard, Glory be to God! Prison Fellowship Philippines is finally back in harness! The month of November finally saw the PFP ministry taking off -- full throttle. Read On To the Last Line and WEEP with JOY! After months of painstaking legwork, the newly organized staff and volunteers of the PFP conducted last November 9 and 10 its first two-day Basic Leadership Training Program: An Introduction to the PFP and its Jail Ministry Councils. There were fifteen (15) ministers from different churches who volunteered to initiate the organization of Jail Ministry councils in as many cities, provincial and municipal jails in Manila and other parts of Luzon. The training program for this first batch was conducted at the Christian Development Center in Tagaytay City. The Orientation and Training efforts though exhausting were all worth it. It was a real blessing to elicit very enthusiastic responses and sincere commitments from each and every participant. The trainors and staff were almost teary eyed when we collected the volunteer-ministers written commitments "to preach the gospel to those in prison, minister to their families and victims." Indeed, what people outside prison bars see as dregs and garbage of society, the PFP ministers consider as Gods hidden jewels, His to-be-retrieved treasures out of darkness. Imagine what benefits society if one menace, as I was, would become an asset, rather than a liability that benefits the nation! Then on November 16, in another bid to re-launch the PFP's ministry presence in the National Bilibid Prison, a PFP Top Team of Directors-Trustees Roger Arienda, Cesar Guy, yours truly (all ex-prisoners), Rod Cornejo, under the able steering of the PFP-NBP Ministry Council Chairman Atty. Joe Villanueva led almost two thousand prisoners and ex-prisoners in a daylong praise and worship inside the maximum security prison. The PFP team preached and taught the Word. It was capped by a powerful exposition on the ministry of the Holy Spirit by Sister Malou Villanueva, wife of PFP-NBP ministry chair Joe Villanueva. Hundreds of inmates and ex-inmates received the baptism of the Holy Spirit as manifested by the speaking in unknown tongues. What a glorious day! The initial success of the PFP ministry is just the beginning of a long tortuous path to make an impact in prisons and ultimately to society as a whole. Your prayer and financial support is vital. The Leadership Training program for chairpersons of the PFP Jail Ministry Councils (PFP-JMC) will have its second batch of 15 ministers for other Metro Manila jails. Despite the almost zero funds available, the PFP staff moved on by faith. The office and administrative expenses, utilities and telephone bills, food and living allowances of the full-time ministers and staff, and other miscellaneous needs must be met. Your personal contributions and referrals will be very much appreciated. Prison Fellowship is fertile ground for sowing seed offerings, reap a hundred fold! Please help us build a fund-support base for this ministry with so much potentials. We have hit the ground running. With your help and God's grace we will keep the momentum! Agape in His Service, Brother BUTCH BELGICA |
