Mercury is the second closest planet to the sun and has the nickname of being the morning and evening star. The high density carbon dioxide atmosphere means that the surface of Venus is extremely hot due to the green house effect not letting any heat escape from the planet. Venus has a longer day than it has a year, this is because the planet spins extremely slowly on its own axis compared to it's orbit of the sun. Venus is also the only planet to spin on it's axis in the opposite direction to other planets.
