Kirei is a short anime series in which the lead characters don't want to live up to any kind of society's stereotypical ideas of what girls should be like or what kind of girls they are. Romance, humor, drama, and a mild dose of angst reign supreme in this mini-series.

The second season, The Arabesque of Nobiru, involves the three main characters and quite possibly one supporting character. It becomes a fantasy adventure in which Elly finally surpasses her own self and acquires something she can be proud of.
