The Land of Nobiru

The fantastical place called Nobiru, situated in an alternate dimmension, holds they key element to the plot of this second season of the Kirei mini-series. While the fine details are still floating around in my head, I know for sure that there will be fantasy, a prince, and at least three positions to be filled by the three main characters from the previous season.

The Warrior

The sought-after Arabesque Staff discriminates against no one to be its wielder, so it must be in the right hands, or else Nobiru may fall to the chaotic dreams of one such as Lady Aspersia. The one who keeps it is classified as the Warrior, the one who will fight with the power and magic of the staff, be it for the cause of good, or chaos.

The Scribe

For something to become legendary or historical, it must be recorded, be it on paper, tape, or even the minds of generations by oral tradition. The Scribe follows the Warrior wherever she goes. In her possession are the Glowing Quill, which needs no ink to write, and the Reality Scroll, where she writes and sketches. The Scribe's main purpose, however, is to aid the Warrior in battle. She is the one who will draw the shape of the weapon needed onto the Reality Scroll while the Warrior activates Transition. The staff will then take the form of the weapon drawn by the Scribe.

The Musician

The Musician can be easily confused with a bard, but the truth is that the Musician's abilities cover far more than simply using music to cast spells of protection or attack. While he does play instruments and produce magic with the notes, the Musician is more along the lines of a summoner. Actually, the first High Mage of Nobiru decided that the task of calling forth the animals and creatures in the mystical land would be assigned to a summoner, but this summoner would be different. To save the trouble of having to find another person, as well as making the role more interesting and, at the same time, more demanding, the first High Mage fused the tasks of a summoner and bard into one, thus creating the position of the Musician.

The High Mage

The High Mage is not necessarily someone who is solely dedicated to magic he or she is the advisor to the reigning Ruler. Elly and her friends don't know how a person is chosen for this position. They do know that the High Mage must have a firm grasp on magic and militaristic strategy. The current High Mage of Nobiru is a woman.

The Ruler

He or she who rules is known in general as the Ruler, but based on the person's gender, they receive the formal title of Prince or Princess. Only the first Ruler was known as Queen, and even the first High Mage was often called King. But since then, no one has taken either of those titles. Much like the High Mage, the Ruler must know of magic and strategy, but most of all must know the will of the land and make sure they uphold the law. It is also unknown to the trio how a person becomes Ruler. The current Ruler of Nobiru is a Prince.

On the Ruler and High Mage

For as long as Nobiru has been using these titles, the High Mage and Ruler have never been of the same gender. No one has bothered to ask why, or perhaps no one has taken notice of the fact. It's probably considered to be trivia, or even a trivial matter. But what if
