The Trojan Kit
Ride On Railways provide a fairly detailed web based instruction guide on how to assemble the Trojan kit, which in theory could be up a running in about four hours. Being new to the hobby, the assembly was reasonably simple with just a few small hand tools, such as smoothing files, to get things going.
The picture shown on the right, which is copied from the Ride On Railways instruction manual, shows the constituent parts of the loco. The two pictures shown below are the assemble chassis with the Saddle Tank body placed on top. It should be noted that the running gear has not been connected to the axles. The only changes to the standard Trojan that I opted for was to have coupling mounted on the front and rear of the chassis, rather than a decorative hook on the front and a coupling on the rear. This, option was chosen to allow for a future double heading capability. Although at an additional cost, I also opted for pressed on wheel sets, which just made assembly easier.

Adding the Curvature to the Boiler Door
Although not shown in the above pictures, the boiler door comes as a flat metal disc with no curvature. Initially, I considered various methods of making wooden jigs to press the domed shape, but Paul from Ride On Railways came up with a really easy suggestion, which took a few minutes to achieve an impressive result. His suggestion was to place the metal disc over the centre of a cable drum and gently hit it in the centre with a hammer. After a few tentative strikes with a rubber hammer the boiler door soon took on its characteristic domed shaped.
Suggestions When using a hammer to form the curvature of the boiler door dome, try to use either a rubber hammer or a hammer with a curved head. Dont use one with a flat head or else the edge of the hammer head could be transferred on to the sheet metal giving noticeable straight edges in the metal. Memories from my apprenticeship days !!!.
