  • QUEER AS FOLK IS RENEWED: (straight from showtime)

SHOWTIME RENEWS ORIGINAL SERIES "QUEER AS FOLK" FOR THIRD AND FOURTH
    SEASONS

New York, NY, June 3, 2002 - QUEER AS FOLK, the highest rated SHOWTIME original series, will be
back for at least two more years (Season Three and Season Four) it was announced by SHOWTIME
President of Programming Jerry Offsay. The decision to renew the series for two new 16 episode
seasons was made as the show's second successful season comes to a close with the final new
episode airing June 16th. The third season is slated to kick off in March of 2003 and will continue to
air on Sunday evenings at 10:00 PM (ET/PT).

The show stars Michelle Clunie, Robert Gant, Thea Gill, Gale Harold, Randy Harrison, Scott Lowell,
Peter Paige, Hal Sparks and Sharon Gless. Also returning are Sherry Miller, Makyla Smith, Jack
Wetherall and Fabrizio Filippo. Each hour-long episode focuses on the relationships, careers, loves
and ambitions of a group of gay men and women living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Blending strong
drama with charm and humor, the series offers a compelling, realistic and graphic depiction of a world
which is rarely seen on television.

QUEER AS FOLK invites viewers to enter the world of Brian (HAROLD), Michael (SPARKS), Justin
(HARRISON), Emmett (PAIGE), Ted (LOWELL), Ben (GANT), Lindsay (GILL), Melanie (CLUNIE) and
Michael's eccentric mother Debbie (GLESS). It is not West Hollywood, it's not the Castro, and it's not
Chelsea. It may be a small world - a gay Main Street with a couple of bars, a disco, a few shops and
a diner - but its reverberations are universal. It is an unapologetic celebration of life in its varied
forms. And as always, in the differences we discover the similarities that make us all human.

QUEER AS FOLK is executive produced by Ron Cowen, Daniel Lipman and Tony Jonas. Cowen &
Lipman developed the series for American television based on the British series created by Russell T
Davies. Sheila Hockin serves as producer. The SHOWTIME series is from Cowlip Productions, Tony
Jonas Productions and Temple Street Productions.
