Definition
Railway catering is defined as all catering outlets within UK rail terminals, in
stations and onboard surface rail services. The emphasis of the report is
catering facilities at mainline rail stations such as Liverpool Street,
Waterloo, and Manchester's Piccadilly but the report also takes a brief look at
regional stations and the onboard offer, particularly in terms of its
competition to station fare.
Sales of both food and drink
to travellers and others (eg meeters and greeters) using facilities at stations
are included.
