Amethyst Kindred Home Page

This web page is focused on the Amethyst Kindred, one civilisation among many in the world of the Warring Nations. They are an old race, and are interested mainly in wisdom; and secondly, battle against their age-old nemesis: the council of dark lords. In the information section of this website, you will find documentation about the heroes of the Amethyst Kindred, in addition to some short stories from the last three ages, and different combat forms. In the gallery, you will find images, depicting scenes and weapons of the Amethyst Kindred. The links page includes links to the Warring Nations Home Page, and the digital portfolio website of this website's creator, Ross Taylor.

Finally, I have uploaded the first installment of my language development. So far, this covers the basic orthography (the way of representing the language's sounds) and some basic verb conjugation. As I complete the symbols for the alphabet and create more words to add to the current vocabulary, I'll upload these as well, but as semester 2 for uni has started, I may not find much more time to work on it until closer to the end of the semester.

Saddly, no finalised work on entertainment just yet. However I have uploaded information about the numerical system and how it is written. I've been busy working on language; I've just finalised phonetical constraints and I'm starting to create verbs and their conjugations. I'm hoping the language and it's complete alphabet (as the one in the gallery is far from complete) will be finalised by the end of the year.

I have been thinking about the visual and performance arts of the Amethyst Kindred for a little while now and I have finally written some things down. I am currently following a few pages of questions that help in creating a fantasy world. I will be posting some more information on just general entertainment in the next few weeks.

I have implemented diagrams in the Combat Forms Page. Each form also has been given a unique name. This has been quite a productive week for the site. I'm finding a lot of my ideas are coming together finally!

April 21st, 2006
A more detailed history for the Second Age has been uploaded. I'm currently considering whether or not to combine the events of the second and third ages into the one age, as there is currently not enough happening in the third age for it to be counted as a separate age. This'll be worked on later though, my mid-semester break is well and truly over!

A detailed history for the First Age has been put up. I have wanted to do that for a while now, but haven't had the chance. My Draft Critic, Rodel, has informed me that the word halberd gives the idea of a very long weapon, designed to counter cavalry. I will try to change all references of halberd to glaive in the coming days, to better describe the trademark weapon of the Amethyst Kindred.

The kindred knight image has been revised. The shield for the knight has been changed to reflect the Rule of Seven belief it has seven sides. More importantly, another chapter has been added to the Story of the Blood Comet. Although this chapter does not come directly after the previous chapter, it's still a good read. Have a look here.

I have created a new section in Information, called Architecture. This describes some of the different features in Amethyst Kindred buildings, in addition to devices to aid in drawing seven-sided shapes. The Information section will continue to be developed over the next few weeks, focusing on different areas of Amethyst Kindred life, such as recreation, numerical system and language.

December 27th, 2005
I have fixed up the presentation of the stories so that they are easier to read. I have also added an image for the alphabet that I've been working on. I'm thinking of putting in some sort of comment page thing; but for now, please email any comments.

Some heavy improvements have been implemented. I have revised the website's appearance, particularly the menu items and the news items. The Information Section has been rearranged and another short story has been added: the Prologue to The Blood Comet. More content and presentation improvements should be expected in the next few days.

The site has been validated using the W3C's validation services. The images at the bottom of the screen demonstrate this validation for the CSS, however the Geocities server includes some invalid html at the bottom of the website, creating many errors. Hopefully this can be fixed in the future.

September 24th, 2005
Some additional images have been added to the gallery page. The home page has been revised to include some news on the updates on this site, like this update here.
