Information - Combat Forms

Glaive
Developed from a long-handled axe, this is the trademark weapon of the Amethyst Kindred. There are many different disciplines in training with this weapon, as it can be used as a quarterstaff, a double-handed axe, or a pike.
The length of the staff is much shorter than the traditional size of pole-arms to increase manoeuvrability, but long enough to keep opponents a reasonable distance away. In addition, the cross-sectional shape of the staff is the unusual teardrop shape, giving the wielder extra control over their strikes, and the other end of the glaive has a capped end to counterbalance the weight of the blade.
The glaive has often been nicknamed "The Bane of the West" as the weapon seems to be perfectly adjusted to counter the dead legions of the Dark Lords.

Sword
Almost every race wields a sword of some sort. It is believed that the ancestors of the Amethyst Kindred adopted the sword into their weaponry early in the Second Age. The length of the hilt enables it to be used by either 1 or 2 hands with reasonable ease.
The following diagrams display the older sword design as used in its early adoption. By the end of the Second Age, this design had dramatically changed, with the blade being much similar to the blade section of the glaive.
