Research Committee Organizes Collection

All existing research on the old jail has been assembled and further sources have been identified. Committee members are researching the additional sources and adding their findings to the collection.

Shelving, acid-free boxes, and folders have been purchase and subject headings have been listed for the 1834 Jail. Items will be accessible according to subject and date. Cross referencing will make items readily available. The collection system will be available for furture historic sites of interest and is housed in the Eckler Building.

The committee is seeking names of people who were associated with the old jail in various capacities through the years of its service, to begin creating oral histories. These oral histories will add a "living history" aspect to the archives. Hopefully information and stories otherwise unavailable will be saved.
