| February 29: Strike. I slept in, but still managed to get there on time. Some people didn't even show up. :P But some of them did have excuses so whatever. We had leftover pizza, and cleaned up everything. Then we all squabbled over things. Heh. They had a FG store type of thing, where they sold the candles, daisy lights, big daisies, the hanger curtain things, picture holders, everything they could. That was fun. I for the most part got what I had wanted. Strike took from 11-3:30 or so, and that was with everyone. 3 months to set up, an afternoon to take it down... sigh. February 28: Closing night. I was so late, my parents went to St. Albert, and I missed the bus, and so I walked the entire way. I won't tell you how late I was, but it was bad. The funny (or sad, I haven't decided which yet) part is that I didn't get in trouble for it. I got there, and cause it was already all still up from the night before, cause it was a weekend, everyone was just relaxing. I swear, everyone had been given something, cause no one looked alive. Everyone was like, sleeping... -Pierce actually was, Kelly got a picture she said she would get me a copy of, but that's just a side note- it was quite a change from opening night, when everyone was panicking and stuff. I spent the entire time at the back of the room, taking pictures without a flash. Every now and then someone else would come along (be it a techie or Mrs. Penner) and watch from there too, or bug me, or whatever. It was fun. Only I got cramped and for all my good intentions not to spend the entire show up there and to spend some time with Lacey on our last night, I couldn't leave, every number had a shot I wanted to get. Silly me. At intermission I was rushed to delete some shots cause the chip was full, damn chip... and then I chowed down some really good dessert (cake of some sort) and get back on that chair. I had fun though, even though I didn't really get to watch the show, I've seen it before so it's all ok. After the show ended, everyone had such an air of sadness.. I mean, I did too, but t just hung over everyone. So sad. Lots of people cried, lots of hugs went around, no one wanted to do anything like clean up or change or anything... the production party was right afterward, in the same room. We took pictures of the cast, then the band, and then the crew. Most of the crew were practising the fosse down in the 900 wing one final time, Steff never got to practise, I didn't even know they were practising until I was told to go get them for our picture. We had a lot of fun posing, and the shots came out great. After the posing, us techies went into the council room for.. some techie reason, we put on fosse gloves, and prepared ourselves. Riley read out Chris' intro to it, then we all walked out on stage, and started our fosse. We couldn't even hear the music cause the actors were laughing and cheering so much. I tell you, that was one of the funnest moments of my life, doing the fosse. Heh, especially since there were so many of us, and it wasn't very organised, and yeah. But it was so much fun! Lacey filmed it, and I know, she did all these stupid zooming things, but it was cool. I mean, it would have been so cool to see all of us do it, but in her defense, she couldn't zoom out enough to get everyone in the shot. And I know, it's hard to take pictures of the entire cast that way, I couldn't get everyone in the fosse shot when the actors do it, but that's partially because of the lighting too. After we made fools of ourselves whilst having so much fun, the actors went wild, and then we had speeches. Mrs. Adams cried, Kate cried, Steff became an honorary member (yea!), mugs were given, wine was given, hugs were given... we had it all. Amy and Sarah made a tech speech, thanking everyone and sorry for being so mean, and recalling some of our finer moments... oops we spilled paint, but it wasn't our fault... the sound/light cue was way off.. but it wasn't our fault... one of the 500$ headsets went missing, but we didn't lose it.. oops one of the mics isn't working, we didn't do it though.. yeah it's all good. Kelly read a poem she had written about the actors, it was really good, I'll have it up here sometime in the future. She got really emotional explaining how much fun she had on this production, I agree. After, we had karaoke. I mean, we had pizza all during this (they had gotten 36 pizzas! I know that doesn't really sound like a lot, but when you see them all stacked up in like, 6 piles, it's a lot!), and other snacks too, but we had karaoke next. Chris did the first number, Mambo number 5. Everyone was in such a dancy party mood, the party was loads fun. Steff had convinced me to do Your Song with her (no ELM), but we never did it. Whew. We did fosse again when someone (I think it was Chris) commented that that was one of the funniest things they've ever seen, and that they would love to see it again. Actors joined us for the second one, and it was filmed too, and it's really funny to watch because its like, all the actors end up being in the front and the techs in the back by the end when we all started out wherever. Typical. Lindsay had a party at her house after, but it was 2 and so I went home and got some sleep so I could be up for strike at 11. Some people *coukellygh* didn't even show up cause they overslept. I wish I had had that luxury, then I would have gone to Lindsay's house. *sigh* whatever. February 27: Happy birthday Chris. Second last night. Sniff. I was in the tech booth, yay! Although I was rather saddened to leave backstage, they are fun back there. (Funny because before I couldn't wait to be in the tech booth, I guess I learned to love all of it) But I was in the booth with Lacey, and Sam, and Riley, and Bronson, so I had fun. During good vibrations and fosse, I took some pictures (without flash, of course) from the sides, with the school camera. That was fun, I was just messing around, practising and all.. no big deal. Mrs. Adams pulls me aside, scaring off 5 years of my life, cause I thought I was in trouble, she was being so serious, pulled me to the back, and placed me on a chair. From there I could see the whole stage. I got to take pictures the rest of the time! And just like that, I was in charge of the pictures. Yeah! February 26: Yeah another FG night! Another night of me being backstage. Go me! Krystina and Laura came tonight to see the show, that was exciting. I was happy to see them, Laura loved Sonny and Cher, and thought Corey is hot (I'm supposedly supposed to give him her number :P). Krystina thought Patrick was blaaah.. and laughingly told me that that is who her sister has a crush on.. haha. Not again.. I find that funny. Patrick is one of the sweetest boys I have ever met though. February 25: Night 5. Hands down the best performance night we've ever had. It was that good. Even though Ashley the tech had the night off.. it was still awesome. Sarah was calling the show, and right before we were about to start, Patrick disapeared from his station. She had cued the lights, the sound, the actors were mingling, stopped talking, ready to start, and Patrick disapeared. Sarah was freaking out, I was in the tech booth for this, wishing her good luck and all that stuff before the show and all, and I was trying to calm her down, telling Sam to turn the sound back up, the lights, anything, instead of leaving the audience with nothing. Mrs. Adams was freaking out, Sarah was freaking out, everyone was wondering what was going on. Still, we had no band leader. Sarah finally got out of him something like "Help, help, the breaker just blew, the band has no power, what do I do???", informed Mrs. Adams as to what was going on, and she tore down the hallway to the student council room to switch all the breaker lights. Pandemonium ensued. Mrs. Adams was running around backstage, as was Patrick, Sarah was running around in the tech booth, everyone panicking, Mrs. Adams steps out on stage to explain the lack of power to the audience, all decorum like, then steps off, starts panicking some more. Eventually it all worked out, and the band started, and the show went on. Mon dieu. At least it happened at the beginning, and never during a show.. that was scary, let me tell ya. On a lighter side, Lacey straightened my hair tonight. No one (let alone me) could believe how long it was. It was cool. I took a lot of pics of backstage tonight, from my chair I was banished to until Lacey was done the hair. It was cool. Funny pics. Funny angle, of course. February 24: Talked to Lacey today. I told her I was in withdrawal from the show, she looked livid.. she can't wait until this... experience.. is over. I'm saddened by the thought, but excited at the same time. |
