Amazing Race Tidbits

CBS' The Amazing Race 12

CBS introduced the cast of 11 teams on the Amazing Race site on October 25, 2007, following the sudden announcement on the day before that the Amazing Race 12 would start before mid-season. The first show airs at 8:00PM Eastern/Pacific following 60 Minutes, on Sunday, November 4. It may well be delayed in the East due to the late feature NFL game, the New England Patriots visiting the Indianapolis Colts.

These ethnically, age, and relationship diverse teams promise to be interesting to watch as they compete in a shortened version of the Amazing Race. Two of the contestants are in their sixties, the grandfather and the Episcopal minister, with the highest finish prior to this being Fran and Barry Lazarus placing fifth in Edition 9. But, as Charla and Mirna proved in All-Stars, anyone can overcome most obstacles in the Amazing Race. About halfway through, there have been quite a few tasks involving animals. In Episode 4, the U-Turn was introduced in association with the Detour, perhaps in replacement of the dreaded Yield. Of the greatest interest this time around is the all elimination format--no reprieves! What will these changes do to Race strategy?
