When to introduce new technology can be critical to its success. An organization may have periods when staff are under pressure and should not be subjected to the added pressure of new technology. For example an accounting firm is very busy at the end of the financial year, banks are busiest before Xmas and Easter, so these periods need to be avoided.
Determine the tasks involved in implementing the new technology. Put the tasks in the order in which they have to be performed. By identifying the tasks beforehand you are less likely to forget to do something.
Identify who is to do the task. People need to know what to do and tasks that have not been allocated risk not being done at all. Negotiate with people themselves or their superior as they may have other commitments.
Estimate how long each task will take and work out the start and finish date. This will ensure that the implementation is done in orderly manner and within the timeframe.
After the new technology is installed an acceptance and handover procedure can occur. It may involve a process where users formally accept the new system.
Organizational
issues
These issues need to be planned for. For example, the computer the server may not be operational for a period of time during the installation. This means downtime for users who need to be informed to work around it. If possible schedule work out of business hours.
